Description
The Senior Search Engineer will build the retrieval layer for product discovery in commercetools’ PaaS ecommerce Scala backend. The role combines lexical, semantic, and hybrid search across ElasticSearch and MongoDB, develops search libraries, improves relevance and quality, maintains scalable infrastructure as code on Kubernetes with Terraform, and tests performance and usability. It requires at least five years of software engineering experience on the JVM, strong backend and distributed-systems knowledge, Scala and functional-programming interest, and experience with multi-tenant SaaS and event-driven architectures. The position is hybrid, with three days per week in Munich, Berlin, London, or Valencia.
