Description

Commify is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own complex backend services, database systems, and technical outcomes. The role involves designing and refactoring C#/.NET services, modernising serverless workloads to containerised services, leading architecture and code reviews, mentoring engineers, collaborating with Product Owners, and improving CI/CD, observability, testing, security, and technical debt management. The position requires strong C#/.NET, distributed systems, SQL, cloud, testing, AI-assisted development, and agile DevOps experience, with a competitive salary of £65,000–£75,000 and flexible hybrid working.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Proven experience designing and building backend services with C#/.NET
Experience building loosely coupled distributed architectures using event-based or message queue patterns
Experience with SQL database design and query optimization
Experience operating services on a major cloud platform, preferably Azure
Experience with unit and integration testing as part of development
Experience using AI coding assistants in development and reviewing generated code
Experience working in agile environments with Git and CI/CD pipelines
Experience mentoring team members
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with modern .NET versions and native Azure services
Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Bicep or Terraform
Familiarity with serverless and containerised infrastructure
Full-stack capabilities or frontend experience with component frameworks such as Angular
Experience with high-throughput transactional messaging, including SMS or IP messaging
Experience using AI tools for testing, refactoring, and documentation
