Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineering IC4 to lead the design and evolution of Azure Storage control-plane and management-plane services for AI-scale workloads. The role focuses on distributed systems, resource orchestration, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence, while also exploring AI-assisted software development, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation. The engineer will own critical service components, influence the storage architecture and technical roadmap, and partner with engineering, architecture, product, and AI platform teams. A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and at least four years of technical engineering experience are required; the typical U.S. base pay range is USD 119,800–234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
