Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and build PostgreSQL-based database systems for modern, AI-native, agent-driven workloads. The role focuses on storage and index access methods, hybrid storage formats, query planning and execution, and the composition of different engines, while also providing technical leadership and mentorship. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, at least seven years of systems programming experience, five years of experience with large-scale cloud services or distributed systems, deep expertise in distributed systems and database architectures, and experience with cloud platforms or foundational services on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
