Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and scale reliable distributed software systems supporting web experiences for over 700 million users across Edge, MSN, Windows, and Copilot. The role involves building maintainable code, participating in code reviews, resolving production issues, translating requirements into technical specifications, and collaborating with product and engineering teams. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least four years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, additional years of experience, large-scale system architecture, distributed systems, API and database design, performance tuning, telemetry, and agentic systems experience. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 119,800 to USD 234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan areas.
