Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and improve storage and file-system components across Windows, Linux, Azure, server, client, and cloud systems. The role owns the software engineering lifecycle, performs performance analysis, contributes to design and code review, and supports storage ecosystem development. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least four years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; equivalent experience is also accepted. Preferred qualifications include systems-level software development in C/C++/Rust, multithreaded systems engineering, kernel and device-driver development, key-value store design, and storage performance analysis. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 119,800–234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
