Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and optimize Windows desktop remoting experiences, improve RDP protocol performance, develop media pipelines using codecs such as H.264 and HEVC, monitor service health, and integrate Windows clients with virtualized and cloud-hosted desktops. The role requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least four years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include experience with Windows graphics, desktop remoting, video codecs, DirectX, Windows internals, and Azure Cloud Services. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 119,800 to USD 234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
