Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Surface Software organization to build platform software, diagnostics, telemetry, power, and performance solutions across hardware, firmware, Windows, and partner ecosystems. The role leads architecture, develops complex software and services, integrates logging and telemetry, investigates issues, and applies AI tools responsibly. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field plus at least four years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience; preferred qualifications include five or more years of production software engineering experience and expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, Windows platform software, and power management. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 119,800 to USD 234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
