Planet is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help evolve its horizontally scalable object and metadata storage platform. The role covers object storage, metadata indexing, Elasticsearch, event notifications, disaster recovery, performance monitoring, incident response, and architectural guidance. It is a full-time remote position based in the United States or Canada, with an expectation to work from a nearby office three days per week if available. The position requires 6–8 years of software engineering experience, production backend and API development in Go, Python, or similar languages, cloud-native operations, and experience with relational and non-relational datastores.
