Description

Squiz is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Discovery team to build resilient, secure, and cost-efficient cloud systems supporting conversational search and content intelligence. The role owns backend services, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, DevSecOps, CI/CD, FinOps, AWS infrastructure, and Generative AI workflows, while also mentoring peers and contributing to architectural decisions. It is a permanent, flexible hybrid position open to anyone living on the east coast of Australia and requires at least five years of experience building complex distributed systems.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: At least 5 years of hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex distributed systems in production.
Deep production experience with cloud-native AWS environments, serverless architectures, containerized workloads, and Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or Terraform.
Proven capability in modern DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD automation and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Strong system design experience involving caching, database optimization, web performance tuning, and distributed debugging.
Experience evaluating, architecting, and safely implementing Generative AI workflows, including RAG and AWS Bedrock orchestration.
Advanced programming skills in Node.js and TypeScript.
Experience working in iterative, agile engineering environments using Scrum or Kanban.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with enterprise search engines such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
Experience with data engineering pipelines.
Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade LLM/AI-based services, especially with AWS Bedrock.
Literacy in React, JavaScript, and CSS.
Experience with modern cloud observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, DataDog, or AWS CloudWatch.
