Description

Umbra, an American space technology company specializing in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) constellations, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. This role involves contributing to public-facing software applications and API services, collaborating with product owners and engineering teams, and providing architectural expertise. Key responsibilities include building, testing, and maintaining applications for SAR data imagery requests, leading and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring customer satisfaction, and participating in an on-call rotation.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field.
Required Previous Experiences: 5+ years of professional experience developing highly available web services with server-side scripting languages, preferably Python.
5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing intuitive and well-documented commercial RESTful APIs and commercial web applications, preferably in NodeJS and React.
2+ years of professional experience developing automated build and test pipelines in a CI/CD lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of professional experience developing highly available web services with server-side scripting languages, preferably Python.
Experience building and supporting software that provides services directly to customers.
A fundamental understanding of UI/UX design principles.
Experience working in the space industry.
Experience building custom GIS applications, STAC, or other imagery catalog APIs.
Good communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and willingness to learn new skills and technology.
