Description

MariaDB is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate cloud infrastructure and application layers for its globally deployed relational database engine. The role owns features from specification through production, with responsibilities spanning multi-cloud infrastructure, Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker, CI/CD, Go or Python, REST and gRPC APIs, relational databases, application security, monitoring, and AI/LLM workflows. The position is full-time and remote in the United States, with an annual base salary of $141,000-$185,000 and health insurance among the benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of software development experience with distributed systems and cloud-native architecture
5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years focused on data-intensive applications, database-adjacent features, or enterprise software
End-to-end ownership of a non-trivial production feature or module
Hands-on production experience deploying, debugging, and managing application services across at least two major public clouds
Experience building or integrating with vector databases, embedding pipelines, semantic search, or RAG systems
Experience building LLM-based applications or workflows using AI agent frameworks
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of MariaDB server
Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects in the database, AI/ML application, or agent-tooling ecosystem
Experience developing MCP servers or integrating A2A protocols into production systems
Familiarity with agent memory frameworks
Experience with graph databases or multi-hop graph traversal
Background with in-memory data grids or semantic caching systems
Experience packaging applications for on-premises or air-gapped deployment environments
Knowledge of MariaDB or MySQL application development, system-versioned tables, or temporal SQL
