Apple is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, development, and evolution of large-scale, distributed Content Management Systems powering apple.com and other digital experiences. The role focuses on Java backend services, content modeling, workflows, APIs, integrations, search, caching, databases, microservices, cloud operations, performance tuning, testing, and technical leadership, while also exploring AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows. The position requires 10+ years of professional software development experience, strong Java and Spring expertise, distributed systems experience, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, with a focus on data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of professional software development experience designing and developing complex, highly available, and scalable enterprise web applications using Java and the JVM ecosystem.
Experience architecting and delivering distributed Java microservices and RESTful or GraphQL web services at scale.
Experience designing and architecting SQL and NoSQL data models for large content repositories.
Experience with Java build and CI/CD tooling, Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Experience with CMS, DAM, and PIM solutions and integrations supporting content-as-a-service at scale with high security standards.
Experience with multi-tier caching and search technologies for real-time content delivery.
Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms such as Kafka.
Experience with distributed logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Grafana.
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks for CMS authoring interfaces.
Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML models and AI coding assistants into applications and engineering workflows.
