Description

Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to architect, build, and operate highly scalable, distributed applications and services for Microsoft Ignite and Microsoft Build. The role focuses on extreme elasticity, reliability, incident response, security and privacy, engineering quality, and technical leadership across product, event, and engineering teams. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and at least four years of technical engineering experience; the role offers a U.S. base pay range of USD 119,800 to USD 234,700 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Required Previous Experiences: At least 4 years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or a bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of equivalent experience
Experience building event, media, streaming, or other high-traffic, consumer-facing platforms
Experience architecting systems handling sudden, high-concurrency traffic and global distribution
Depth in distributed data stores, caching, messaging, event-driven architectures, and performance tuning
Technical leadership, mentorship, and influence across teams and disciplines
Experience designing and delivering large-scale, distributed, cloud-based applications and services
Experience building scalable, reliable, and secure systems and operating them in production at high scale
Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure, and modern practices including microservices, containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a track record of technical ownership from design through production operations
