Barclays is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Java to design, develop, and improve software solutions utilizing various engineering methodologies. This role involves delivering high-quality software, collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring code quality, staying updated on industry trends, adhering to secure coding practices, and implementing unit testing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Core Java, Spring Framework, and Microservices architecture.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Extensive hands-on development experience with Core Java (Java 17+), Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
Strong expertise in designing and developing Microservices-based architectures using Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, and Spring Data.
Proven experience in building and integrating RESTful APIs, Web Services, and event-driven applications.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, and source control tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
Experience leading technical design discussions, code reviews, and mentoring development teams.
Strong knowledge of application performance tuning, scalability, security, and resiliency patterns.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments with responsibility for end-to-end feature delivery.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder communication skills.
8+years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Barclays Cloud Platform (BCP).
Hands-on experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka and IBM MQ.
Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
Experience with Liquibase or similar database schema/version management tools.
Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and domain-driven design principles.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and delivery tools such as Jira.
Experience in the banking, wealth management, or financial services domain.
Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
Ability to drive technical innovation, modernization initiatives, and engineering best practices across teams.
