Description

Scale is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate its core orchestration platform, which runs durable, reliable, and scalable distributed workflows. The role leads architecture, APIs, services, observability, reliability, security, and developer experience for workflow primitives, and partners with product, infrastructure, data, and application teams. It requires 5+ years of backend, infrastructure, and distributed-systems experience, familiarity with Temporal, Cadence, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and related production systems, and the ability to lead complex technical projects.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience focused on backend, infrastructure, and distributed systems
Experience building and operating production systems requiring reliability, availability, and scale
Experience leading technically complex projects from design through rollout and ongoing operation
Preferred Qualifications: Deep familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Cadence, AWS Step Functions, and Kubernetes
Deep familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized production environments, plus familiarity with Terraform and Docker
Strong knowledge of distributed-systems concepts including asynchronous execution, retries, idempotency, fault tolerance, state management, and observability
Experience with data warehouses and data pipeline or ETL tools
Experience with authentication and authorization systems
Experience scaling products at hyper-growth startups
Interest in working with AI technologies
