Airwallex is hiring a Backend Engineer for its Payments Team in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in a hybrid arrangement. The role focuses on designing and implementing REST services and integration components within a backend microservices architecture, contributing to payment acceptance infrastructure, conducting architectural reviews, addressing technical debt, and improving operational effectiveness. Candidates should have at least four years of engineering experience, strong computer science fundamentals, Java or Kotlin, Spring or Spring Boot, REST API, distributed systems, Kafka, cloud, containerization, and operational tooling expertise, with payment gateway or acquiring/issuing experience preferred.
