Description

Bloomberg is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Python) for its Core Products Engineering team in Pune. The role focuses on designing, building, and operating scalable financial-data platforms, including distributed systems, microservices, APIs, data-processing pipelines, and event-driven workflows. The engineer will own complex technical problems end to end, modernize legacy systems, support production reliability, and mentor engineers. The position requires at least seven years of hands-on software engineering experience, mandatory Python, and experience with distributed systems, APIs, databases, testing, CI/CD, and production monitoring.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and supporting production systems
Experience designing distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems, including microservice and asynchronous/event-driven architectures
Experience designing and consuming APIs and building backend services, data-processing pipelines, or workflow platforms
Experience with NoSQL databases, distributed caches, or messaging/queuing technologies such as Redis or RabbitMQ
Experience with automated testing, code reviews, source control, CI/CD, production monitoring, logging, metrics, and debugging complex systems
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience building extensible full-stack applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks
Experience with Linux, containerized development or deployment environments, and modern software delivery practices
Experience with large-scale data-intensive platforms, ETL/data-processing pipelines, distributed object stores, or financial/market data systems
Experience modernizing legacy platforms or migrating services to newer architectures and technology stacks
Familiarity with AI/ML-assisted data-processing workflows, data quality frameworks, or automation used to classify and enrich structured financial data
Knowledge of financial services, company financial statements, market data, or Bloomberg products
