GitLab is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Authorization team to own and extend the permission model that controls access for users, tokens, and automated agents across GitLab.com, Self-Managed, and Dedicated environments. The role focuses on fine-grained token permissions, custom roles, GraphQL and REST authorization, and refactoring long-lived Ruby on Rails policy code to support a new Rust authorization engine. Responsibilities include end-to-end feature ownership, dual-run verification, performance and security improvements, and technical decision-making in writing. The position is remote for United States residents and offers a base salary of $139,200 to $235,200 USD.
