Tesco is hiring a Data Engineer in Welwyn Garden City for a hybrid, full-time permanent role. The engineer will own the data and intelligence platform that connects supply-chain forecasting outputs to people and systems, working across data engineering, applied machine learning, and developer infrastructure. Responsibilities include building typed APIs, improving retrieval quality in RAG pipelines, deploying services, and integrating LLMs with tool calling and streaming responses. The role requires backend and data-systems experience, strong TypeScript and Python skills, and familiarity with LLM APIs or retrieval systems; Kubernetes, cloud-native deployment, and supply-chain or forecasting knowledge are useful but not required.
