Description

WEX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Semantic Data Team to build and operate the control plane for semantic and AI-native data platforms. The role focuses on data lifecycle orchestration, reliable and observable pipelines, automated data quality and governance, self-service developer tooling, lineage, RBAC and PII protection, and AI-native capabilities such as RAG systems and agentic workflows. The engineer will use SQL and Python or Scala, Airflow, Great Expectations, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DataHub, Grafana, and AI coding assistants including Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor, while collaborating with data scientists, domain experts, and product stakeholders.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 4–8 years of data engineering or software engineering experience focused on data transformation, modeling, or analytics platforms.
Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with LLM-driven architectures.
Experience designing RAG systems, agentic workflows, and vector or graph databases.
Regular use of AI coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.
Experience building self-service portals and developer tools.
Track record of traceable, reproducible, reusable semantic data models.
