Description

GitLab is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Duo CLI functional team to design and build AI-assisted developer tools for GitLab Duo. The role focuses on TypeScript frontend and backend development, interactive terminal experiences, CLI command and flag design, reliability, observability, performance, and architectural decisions. The engineer will also contribute to JetBrains and VS Code extensions when needed and provide technical leadership through code reviews and mentorship. The position is fully remote and largely asynchronous, with experience in command-line tools, developer tooling, and technical problem ownership required.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or other developer-facing tooling, including command and flag design, terminal user interfaces, output formatting, scripting-friendly behavior, and backward compatibility.
Experience owning technical problems end to end, making sound architectural trade-offs, and guiding other engineers through code reviews and mentorship.
Experience with IDE extension development, such as JetBrains plugins in Kotlin or VS Code extensions, and understanding of the Language Server Protocol (LSP), language servers, or editor integrations are helpful but not required.
