Grubhub is hiring a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the architecture and evolution of its Discovery machine learning systems, including ranking, recommendation, retrieval, query understanding, calibration, and long-term diner-value optimization. The role owns cross-system design, sets technical direction, improves model evaluation and deployment standards, partners with product and platform teams, and mentors engineers. It requires an MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience, at least 8 years of machine learning systems experience including 3 years at staff-level scope, and expertise in deep learning, large language models, information retrieval, experimentation, and cloud ML infrastructure. The position is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the office, with New York listed at $240,000-$249,500 per year.
