Description

ServiceNow is hiring a Senior Staff Platform Engineer for its Developer Experience team to design and build core developer platforms, including SDKs, APIs, runtime abstractions, tooling infrastructure, and developer-facing services. The role owns end-to-end delivery, platform primitives, technical strategy, architecture, observability, operational excellence, and mentorship of senior engineers. It requires 12+ years of production-systems experience, significant platform or infrastructure team experience, and deep expertise in distributed systems and scalable microservices. The position requires in-office presence in Mountain View, California five days per week.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 12+ years designing, building, and operating production systems, with significant platform or infrastructure team experience
Experience leading the design and multi-year operation of developer platforms serving 100+ external teams, with demonstrated acceleration of use cases or velocity
Deep expertise in distributed systems, including reliability, API design, performance, fault tolerance, and observability
Experience as a strong systems engineer fluent in production microservices environments at scale
Experience building general-purpose platforms that other engineers depend on and understanding good versus leaky abstractions
End-to-end ownership of platform development, including design, coding, production debugging, and iteration based on feedback
Experience navigating tradeoffs with incomplete data, including generalization versus specialization, building versus integrating, and speed versus design
Understanding developer activation funnels and feedback loops that convert builders into core contributors
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with LLM-based architectures or agent orchestration patterns
Experience with enterprise developer environments, including authentication, sandboxing, compliance, and multi-tenancy constraints
