Description
The Senior Surgical Technician performs surgical case preparation, supplies and instrumentation allocation, sterile-field organization, surgical scrubbing, intraoperative instrument passing, terminal cleaning, and post-procedure decontamination under the supervision of a registered nurse and operating physician. The role requires surgical technology program training, completion of general-service-line competencies, environmental and unit-specific orientation, National Certified Surgical Technologist certification, BLS certification, and three years of operating-room technician experience, with two years of vascular surgery experience required for advancement to open-heart surgery.
