Description

The Shipfitter prepares surface metal components, lays out and fabricates structural parts within a vessel hull, and supports riveting and welding. The role includes marking reference lines, positioning and aligning parts, installing temporary fasteners, tacking welds, and cutting, bending, flanging, and shaping heavy metal plates and beams. Knowledge of blueprints and drawings is desired, and prior shipfitter experience with cutting torch and tack-welding capability is preferred.
