Description
The Signal Maintainer assists the Signal Maintainer with signal interlocking, train operation, carborne signal equipment testing, gate-arm replacement, electrical and mechanical repairs, and general signal-facility maintenance. The role requires prior education or equivalent electrical/electronic principles, an associate’s degree or equivalent electronics or electrical technology education, a valid Illinois driver’s license, drug and alcohol testing, physical examinations, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Work is performed on rail systems in subways, at grade, and on elevated structures, with exposure to electrified third rail, moving trains, street traffic, and outdoor conditions approximately 90% of the work cycle. The salary range is $37.77 to $50.37.
