Description

Harris School Solutions is hiring an intermediate Software Developer for its NextGen R&D team to maintain and modernize a K-12 financial management platform. The role covers legacy Visual Basic 6, SQL Server, Excel macros, custom integrations, IIS, and production support, while also contributing to NextGen 2.0 development with C#, Blazor, and WiseJ. Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Required Previous Experiences: 3–7 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience with relational databases, preferably SQL Server, including queries, stored procedures, and data troubleshooting.
Experience with Git-based development workflows using Azure DevOps Repos, GitHub, or similar tools.
Exposure to web application development, APIs, and modern application architecture.
Practical experience using AI coding assistants or AI-powered development tools in regular development work.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with C#/.NET, Blazor, WiseJ, or similar Microsoft development technologies.
Experience with Visual Basic 6, VBA, classic ASP, or other legacy Microsoft technologies.
Experience using AI tools or agents to analyze unfamiliar codebases, generate tests, document systems, refactor code, or troubleshoot defects.
Experience modernizing legacy systems into modern web, API, or service-based architectures.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Microsoft Azure, IIS, Windows Server, or multi-tenant application environments.
Interest in accounting, finance, payroll, HR, K-12 education technology, or public-sector ERP systems.
