Description
Amazon is hiring a Runtime Engineer for its Java Runtimes Team to analyze production JVM workloads, identify compiler, garbage collection, and runtime bottlenecks, and implement improvements across JIT compilation, garbage collection, and core runtime subsystems. The role contributes changes to OpenJDK and Amazon Corretto, tunes performance across x86 and Graviton architectures, develops profiling and auto-tuning tooling, validates changes against real workloads, and partners with service teams on runtime improvements. The position requires at least five years of professional software development, programming, design or architecture leadership, and mentoring or engineering-team leadership experience, with a Seattle, Washington base salary of $168,100 to $227,400 annually.
