The Software Development Engineer will design, develop, and operate highly scalable distributed systems for AWS EC2's network virtualization infrastructure, including packet processing, network policy enforcement, traffic management, NAT Gateway, Elastic File System, Load Balancers, and AWS service endpoints. The role leads technical architecture, mentors junior engineers, collaborates with network, security, and product teams, optimizes latency and throughput, participates in on-call rotations, and contributes to long-term technical strategy. It requires 8+ years of professional software development, programming, design or architecture leadership, and mentoring or engineering-team leadership experience, with C++, Rust, or Java coding experience. The position is based in Santa Clara, California, with a base salary of 193,300 to 261,500 USD annually.
