Description

Blue Origin is hiring a Software Development Engineer III for the TeraWave Software and Networking Team to design, implement, test, integrate, and deploy MAC control-plane software for a high-throughput satellite communications network. The role covers radio-resource allocation, link establishment and mobility, scheduling, QoS, link adaptation, protocol state machines, hardware and PHY integration, simulation, performance analysis, debugging, and system qualification. It requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and at least four years of software-development experience in wireless networking, communication systems, embedded systems, or high-performance networking, with C or C++ proficiency in Linux, real-time Linux, or RTOS environments.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
Required Previous Experiences: At least 4 years of software-development experience in wireless networking, communication systems, embedded systems, or high-performance networking
Experience developing concurrent or timing-sensitive C/C++ software for Linux, real-time Linux, or RTOS environments
Experience implementing communication protocols, protocol state machines, resource schedulers, flow-control mechanisms, or QoS systems
Experience developing and debugging software interfacing with hardware, embedded platforms, networking systems, or communication devices
Preferred Qualifications: MAC or link-layer software experience in satellite, non-terrestrial, cellular, fixed wireless, or related communications
Knowledge of TDMA, DAMA, OFDMA, radio-resource management, adaptive modulation and coding, ARQ/HARQ, admission control, or QoS scheduling
Experience with PHY, FPGA, DSP, modem, or custom-SoC integration
Experience with DPDK, VPP, eBPF, or hardware packet-processing engines
Experience with systems operating under variable latency, constrained bandwidth, partial connectivity, or rapidly changing network conditions
