Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer 2 to design and build PostgreSQL-based database systems for modern, AI-native, agent-driven workloads. The role focuses on storage and index access methods, hybrid storage and query planning, hybrid query execution, and end-to-end software development, while also mentoring other engineers. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, at least four years of systems programming experience, experience with large-scale cloud services or distributed systems, deep expertise in distributed systems, storage, and database architectures, and experience with PostgreSQL internals or similar enterprise database systems.
