Amazon is hiring a Software Engineer to design, implement, and operate globally distributed systems for its low Earth orbit satellite network, Amazon Leo. The role focuses on building scalable S3-based data lakehouses, OLAP analytics layers, metadata and data quality systems, metrics repositories, federated query capabilities, and globally distributed vector databases supporting billions of embeddings. The engineer will also build cloud services and APIs that orchestrate software simulation across Leo devices, using AWS technologies and software engineering best practices. The position requires at least three years of professional software development and systems design or architecture experience, offers a base salary of 143,700 to 194,400 USD annually in Redmond, Washington, and requires U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee/asylum status.
