Helm.ai is hiring a senior Vehicle Planning Engineer to design, implement, and test safe and efficient behavior-planning and trajectory-generation systems for highway and urban autonomous driving. The role involves translating traffic rules and operational design-domain constraints into interpretable planning behaviors, handling long-tail edge cases, integrating with perception, prediction, localization, and control modules, and validating solutions through simulation, closed-course trials, and live on-road testing. Candidates should have a robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent industry background, strong C++ and Python skills, expertise in planning algorithms and decision architectures, knowledge of vehicle kinematics and dynamics, and experience with ROS/ROS2 or comparable middleware.
