Google is hiring a Software Engineer for its Cold Storage team in Infra Storage, a newly established initiative focused on massive-scale, low-cost, reliable archival data storage. The role involves writing product or system development code, participating in technology design reviews, reviewing and improving other developers’ code, contributing documentation, and triaging and debugging issues affecting hardware, networks, or service operations. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, at least two years of experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute, storage, or hardware architecture, and two years of programming experience in C++ or Go. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related technical field and experience with distributed storage systems or I/O-intensive applications. The listed compensation is $147,000–$210,000 USD plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
