Mercor is hiring a Backend Systems Engineer to build production systems that capture, coordinate, and validate expert judgment and high-quality data workflows at scale. The role focuses on distributed state machines, long-running jobs, retries, failure recovery, idempotency, model inference, APIs, reliability, and observability. It requires production backend experience, strong system design judgment, distributed systems fluency, and comfort working in Python on AWS with Postgres; experience with Temporal or similar workflow engines is a plus. The position is in-person five days per week in San Francisco, New York City, or London, with health, dental, and vision insurance.
