Microsoft is hiring Software Engineer II and Senior Software Engineer candidates for its Windows Engineering Systems Core Build Team. The role focuses on designing, building, validating, and operating large-scale build orchestration, analysis, developer tooling, and software-supply-chain systems; diagnosing complex failures; improving reliability, security, observability, and developer experience; and mentoring engineers. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field plus at least four years of technical engineering experience with coding in C++, C#, Java, or TypeScript, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include experience with Windows internals, native development, build technologies, developer infrastructure, CI/CD, distributed services, telemetry, and secure software-supply-chain practices. The role requires Microsoft Cloud background checks and offers a typical U.S. base pay range of USD 102,100 to USD 202,200 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
