Affirm is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to support the development and operations of systems that resolve customer issues after card transactions settle. The role involves breaking projects into tasks, collaborating with product, design, analytics, compliance, and other engineering teams, monitoring metrics, supporting on-call operations, and contributing to team growth. Candidates need at least 1.5 years of software engineering experience, backend development experience, proficiency in Python or Kotlin, familiarity with distributed systems and AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes, and strong communication and code-review skills. The position is remote-first, with a Canadian base pay range of $128,000 to $188,000 per year and benefits including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental, and vision.
