Google is hiring a Software Engineer, Machine Learning to optimize models powering the YouTube recommendation system. The role focuses on model efficiency, low-precision quantization, knowledge distillation, parameter sharing, hardware-friendly architectures, TPU compiler co-design, and optimization of training and inference pipelines. Candidates need a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, at least two years of C++ or Python programming experience, software design and architecture experience, software-launching experience, ML model optimization experience, and familiarity with TensorFlow, JAX, PyTorch, or ML compilers.
