Description

Arista Networks is hiring a Layer1 software engineer to develop and maintain software that controls physical-layer networking components, including connectors, optics, and forwarding engines. The role covers feature architecture, C/C++ and Python development, automated testing, hardware and manufacturing collaboration, customer and support troubleshooting, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates need a relevant bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree plus the specified years of experience, along with expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python, UNIX or Linux, and software engineering principles.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus three years of experience; or a master's degree plus two years; or a Ph.D. plus one year; or equivalent work experience.
Required Previous Experiences: Three years of experience with a relevant bachelor's degree.
Two years of experience with a relevant master's degree.
One year of experience with a relevant Ph.D.
Experience working with low-level hardware components is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of digital communication technologies, including modulation and signal encoding schemes.
Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems.
Applied understanding of software engineering principles.
Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.
Ability to design solutions and implement features independently.
Ability to work in small teams.
