Meta's Standalone Apps Team is hiring a staff-level ML engineer to own the search algorithm for an image-and-text community app. The role covers retrieval, ranking, query understanding, relevance modeling, search-quality metrics, experimentation, ML and serving systems, technical direction across teams, and mentoring engineers. Candidates need a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, at least 12 years of relevant experience, deep search and information-retrieval expertise, strong ML and large-scale systems knowledge, a record of improving product metrics, and experience setting technical direction across teams.
