Description
DoorDash is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the architecture and strategy of its Notification Hub and Experience team. The role owns the transition from campaign-centric notifications to a personalized, autonomous system at massive scale, with responsibilities spanning distributed-system architecture, AI integration, reliability, observability, cross-functional strategy, and mentorship of E4/E5 engineers. Candidates need 7+ years of backend engineering experience, strong distributed-systems expertise, AI fluency, and product-mindedness; experience with notification platforms, production ML/AI systems, recommendation or personalization systems, and LLM integration is preferred. The role offers a base salary of CAD 120,000–231,500 depending on location and level, plus equity and benefits.
