Description

OpenAI is hiring an experienced Infrastructure Engineer for its ChatGPT Velocity team to improve the reliability, speed, and observability of developer and deployment infrastructure. The role covers local development performance, Bazel and build systems, CI reliability, deployment pipelines, production safety signals, automation, and developer workflow diagnostics. Candidates should have experience with large-scale developer infrastructure, distributed systems, build and CI/CD systems, and tools such as Bazel, Buildkite, Kubernetes, Temporal, Python, TypeScript, GitHub workflows, and monorepo tooling.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Strong experience with large-scale developer infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD, deployment systems, or production reliability
Experience debugging distributed systems across local machines, devboxes, remote caches, monorepos, service dependencies, authentication systems, and deployment pipelines
Preferred Qualifications: Experience improving developer experience in a very large monorepo
Experience with remote execution, remote caching, hermetic builds, or cache reproducibility
Experience designing CI quarantine, test ownership, merge queue, or auto-revert systems
Experience with progressive delivery, canary or preview deployment pipelines, synthetics, alert quality, and deploy-manager workflows
Experience building agent-assisted developer workflows, including automated PR support, CI triage, or conflict resolution
Familiarity with security and access-control constraints around secrets, authentication, VPN, and local development
