Google is hiring a Software Engineer to lead advanced VM shape-based capacity planning, workload prediction, fungibility solutions, capacity sharing, and compute/storage overcommit technologies for AI and computing infrastructure. The role partners with product management, engineering, and executive decision-makers to optimize regional and zonal resource distribution, reduce stranded resources, and support NPIs and AI accelerator initiatives. It requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, extensive C++ and large-scale infrastructure experience, and technical leadership experience; preferred qualifications include a master's degree or PhD, data structures and algorithms experience, and experience in complex matrixed organizations. The position is based in Sunnyvale, California, or Kirkland, Washington, and offers a base salary of $262,000–$364,000 USD plus a 25% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
