Cushon by WTW is hiring an Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for a team of 5–7 engineers, with an assigned Engineering Manager. The role owns backend architecture across PHP, Go, and GraphQL/API layers; API and domain standards; event-driven and integration patterns; automated testing, observability, production readiness, database evolution, incident response, and release practices. It also includes delivery leadership, cross-team collaboration, mentorship, developer experience, and support for hiring. The position requires experience in regulated financial services, production systems, complex multi-team initiatives, architectural judgement, CI/CD, observability, security, and modern-to-legacy platform evolution, and offers hybrid working with comprehensive benefits.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Team or technical lead experience in fast-growing regulated environments such as fintech, pensions, banking, or insurance
End-to-end ownership of production systems, including implementation, rollout, monitoring, incident response, and follow-up
Experience leading technical delivery on complex, ambiguous initiatives involving multiple engineers, dependencies, or teams
Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and safe release practices in high-stakes production environments
Familiarity with observability and operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and incident learning
Understanding of security, compliance, and non-functional requirements in regulated financial services
Experience working across modern and legacy systems and evolving platforms incrementally
