Description

Google is hiring a Software Engineering Manager for its Conversational Experiences team to lead the technical architecture and roadmap of the Gemini-based conversational platform for Google Home. The role combines generative AI with deterministic systems, improves conversational quality and latency, resolves production issues, and leads an engineering team across multiple teams and international sites. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, 8 years of software development experience, extensive ML design and infrastructure experience, and prior technical and people leadership experience.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
Required Previous Experiences: 8 years of software development experience
5 years leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure
5 years of experience with speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML field
3 years of technical leadership experience
2 years of people management or team leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
3 years of experience in a complex, matrixed organization with cross-functional or cross-business projects
Applied research expertise with LLMs, preferably for NLP
Ability to operate flexibly in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
