Google is hiring a Software Engineering Manager for its Core AI Foundations team in Pittsburgh. The role manages engineers across multiple teams and locations, oversees large-scale distributed systems supporting machine learning infrastructure, contributes to product strategy, and develops technical leaders. Responsibilities include guiding performance reviews and career advancement, aligning local execution with global strategy, componentizing shared storage infrastructure, and supporting intensive write fan-in and distributed training workloads. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, 8 years of software engineering, management, and distributed systems experience, people-management experience, and cross-functional collaboration experience; cloud infrastructure and large-scale distributed systems experience are preferred.
