Google is hiring a Software Engineering Manager for Kernel Development to lead systems software engineers and drive the architecture, implementation, and optimization of core Linux kernel components for compute and storage infrastructure. The role covers memory management, CPU scheduling, BPF, file systems, fleet efficiency, security, testing, performance profiling, and cross-functional platform and Google Cloud leadership alignment. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, 8 years of software development experience, 3 years of technical leadership experience, people-management experience, computer architecture and low-level C systems software experience, and operating-system experience. The position offers $207,000–$300,000 USD plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
