Software/Firmware Developer at AMD

Description

AMD's AGESA BIOS team is seeking a passionate Software/Firmware Developer to contribute to the design and implementation of pre-OS BIOS firmware and silicon initialization code. The role involves working with X86 and/or ARM firmware across various AMD business units, focusing on developing and supporting core firmware for features like PCIe, DRAM technologies, and SOC power management. Responsibilities include collaboration with hardware validation teams, engagement with technical leads, and ensuring high-quality firmware delivery.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 1-5 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications: Development and support of multi-root PCI Express subsystems for Enterprise systems, including extensions such as Universal Backplane Management, Compute Express Link, hot-plug, etc.
Strong background in computer architecture with familiarity in memory interleaving, system memory maps and NUMA domain concepts
Familiarity with memory industry standards and technologies such as JEDEC, SPD Data, I2C/I3C, DDR4/5, LPDDR4/4x/5/5x UDIMM, RDIMM, LRDIMM, 3DS, ECC, Mode Registers, Self-Refresh, etc.
Experience with or knowledge of DRAM Initialization/training algorithms, memory timings, addressing, overclocking, etc.
Good understanding of firmware development cycle, integration, and verification/validation for pre-si and post-si for SoC designs.
Expertise in low-level C programming & debugging for embedded systems.
Ability to methodically root-cause complex failure mechanisms at the IP, subsystem and/or system level.
Prior experience and/or exposure to testing platforms (Simulation and/or Emulation)
Prior involvement in board, processor, or ASIC bring-up.
In-depth UEFI BIOS development experience with familiarity on at least one BIOS code base (AMI, Insyde or Phoenix BIOS) preferred
Experience in hardware/software interfaces and debugging sophisticated issues in CPU and firmware using JTAG, source code debuggers and other tools.
Experience with source control systems including git/gerrit
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
