Description
The Solar Design Engineer will develop electrical and mechanical designs for commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems, from early-stage site evaluation through issued-for-construction design. Responsibilities include wiring diagrams, one-lines, grounding plans, electrical schematics, mounting layouts, system sizing, energy modeling, performance analysis, CAD and GIS design work, and coordination with construction, project management, utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, and third-party engineers. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field, knowledge of solar PV systems and construction practices, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with commercial or utility-scale solar projects is preferred. The position is remote, with possible travel to project sites and occasional travel to Enfield, Connecticut or other locations.
